Community Care Ministry

Community Care Ministry

The Community Care Ministry of Madison Park Church of Christ has its premise rooted in scripture. Matthew 25 gives a forecast of the judgment where all nations are gathered before Christ’s throne.

31“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. 32All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visited me. 37Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you? 40The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.' " -Matthew 25:31-40.

One notices that the text does not say that congregations, zones, committees and small teams are being judged. Rather, it is INDIVIDUALS that are judged. One may ask, will all members who do not consistently do all five areas of ministry that Jesus lists in Matthew 25 be lost? The text does not say that specifically. In verses 37-39 and verse 44, both the sheep and the goats, in referring to the ministry Christ outlined, said, “When did we see you hungry, thirsty, a stranger, naked, and in prison?”Matthew 25:44

“Therefore, as we have opportunity let us do good to all, especially those who are of the household of faith.”Galatians 6:10

The Madison Park Church of Christ  understands that an atmosphere of reaching out will encourage all members of the Church to be outreach minded. There is no upreach without effective outreach. TCC will attempt to model Matthew 25 through 5 planks outlined in the platform of Jesus’ personal ministry. They are contained in Matthew 25:31-46. These following ministry efforts are tied to the judgment and eternal life.

  1. Feeding Or Care Of The Hungry Or Underprivileged
  2. Giving Drink To The Thirsty
  3. Hospitality Toward Strangers
  4. Visitation Of The Sick
  5. Ministering To The Incarcerated

In performing personal ministry among the Jews, Jesus’ preaching and teaching were often accompanied with OUTREACH because He was needs-oriented as well as salvation-oriented.
